About this Raddle

Shannon Lucid is a U.S. astronaut and biochemist. On this day in 1996, she transferred to the Russian space station Mir, becoming the first female U.S. astronaut to live on a space station She stayed in space for almost six months. Until 2007, she held the record for longest time lived in space by an American and by a woman. She was the first woman awarded the Congressional Space Medal of Honor, when President Clinton bestowed the honor on her in 1996.
